I an thankful that despite being sick, and having my car break down again(argh alternator! I had to push it two blocks to church Weds night), I was able to brine the turkey overnight, and get up at 4am to prep the stuffing and get the bird in the oven by 6am.
[I am the official family turkey and stuffing chef, partly because my harvest stuffing recipe qualifies as a completely separate food group, and partly since nobody else is patient enough to do all the steps.]
I am thankful my sister bought her 8 kids. (we have a fun house that is kid-friendly). I am thankful my wife preprepared the food so today was just the usual last minute scrub before the guests arrived. I am glad we had a african immigrant come spend her first thanksgiving with our extended family. 10 kids, 4 parents, 2 senile grandmothers, and a new family friend. We ate until we were all very full, the kids played nice, and we watched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. (A family tradition in my house. We watch it yearly. My sister and her family had never seen it.)
