(no subject)
Part I. Anime:
01. What was your first anime?
Sailor Moon, like everyone one else of my generation. I saw the commercial and fell in LOVE...and then it didn't show when the commercial's said. And then popped up again sometime later.
I was obsessed pretty quickly.
02. How were you introduced to anime?
...besides Sailor Moon? Raided the scant Blockbuster area for "Special interest" tapes, would stay up to watch the like...2 am Saturday movies on Sci-fi (Which was how I ran into Urserie Yatsura, Akira, etc), and trading video's with those who knew a bit more then me.
03. What are your anime obsession/fandoms?
Clamp, Naruto, Sailor Moon, some old school things (Trigun, mainly. I wanted to marry Vash. No lie.)
04. What were some fandoms that you lost?
There's just nothing to DO in Sailor Moon fandom anymore, it's done and over. I still rp a bit, but...most fandoms that aren't on going fade for me after awhile. I still love them, but I don't count them as "fandoms"
05. What is your genre preference?
Well balanced? I guess shonen, but really...I like good, well balanced things more the a genre.
06. What was your first anime movie that you've watched?
Venus Wars, probably. Lulz.
07. What was the first anime you've bought on vhs or dvd?
Sailor Moon.
08. Do you buy a lot of anime merchandise, and if so, what?
Uhm...yes. Yes. Posters, Manga, figures to an extent, plushies.
09. Sub vs. dub?
Generally dubbed. There have been a few dubs I couldn't stomach (Tsubasa, and Ayashi no Ceres are the ones I can think of since dubs have actually gotten to be of quality), and I adore Naruto and hellsing so much more then the Japanese (Generally I'm six half a dozen, but english is easier for me to watch, but those two I enjoy much more. Naruto feels miscast all over the place in Japanese, and Hellsing is so well cast and acted in English I honestly forget I'm watching anime)
10. What are you currently watching now?
Harhui. And...that's about it really.
Part II. Manga:
01. What was the first manga you've read?
Sailor Moon. I use to go buy is at the little comic store in the Buckinham Mall (Neither the store, nor the mall exist anymore) I still have a bunch of my single issues Sailor Moons.
02. What was the first manga you've bought?
See above
03. How many volumes do you have now?
I have about half of the 18 Sailor moon Volumes.I probably have over a hundred volumes of all manga altogether. Probably closer to 200. The first time I went to NDK with my own money I went a bit nutters.
04. What is your favorite manga (one that has not been made into an anime)?
Ok, it has been made into an anime, but Paradise Kiss is like...the most perfect manga ever. Other then that, uhm...Legal Drug? Alone in my Kings Harem? IDK.
05. What manga have you've been waiting for to be translated for a long time?
I don't know any untranslated.
06. Do you buy manga monthly?
Nah, no cash.
07. Is there a manga series that you prefer as an anime? And vise versa?
I like Gravitation and Fruits Baskets better as anime (Only cause both, the Manga-ka seemed to get half way through and...stop giving a fuck)
I can't stand the Tsubasa anime (And not just due to Vic Mangina), actually there are few Clamp anime I enjoy. Sailor Moon also, was much more epic and mature as a manga, and watered down and dumbed up for the anime.
I like Naruto plotty bits better as manga (not quiet getting the fight is better then getting them...in detail...for 8 episodes) but I enjoy the filler. It's like free plot!
09. Do you prefer actual manga vs. scanlations?
Yes. I like owning it, holding it, and not crouching over a computer screen, and being able to really enjoy the art. Annnd I like not fucking over the companies. That's why I generally only use onemanga.com for things I know I'll buy whether I've read them or not, or just to get a taste to see if I like it.
10. What manga are you currently waiting to be released this year?
New Naruto chapters? I wanna see how Tsubasa and Nana end
Part III. Anime vs. Manga:
01. Which do you prefer?
Manga. I like the speed, the style, and having it as close to what the author means as possible (you'll never get super close, but by the time you get to the anime, they probably aren't even being asked shit anymore XD)
02. Do you appreciate the art more in anime or more in manga?
Depend on what it is. Both mediums have gorgeous examples, both have...so so examples.
03. Do you like drama cds?
I enjoyed the only one I ever had any experience with (there was a version, when a new eva one came out that was a big bfd, and pretty much just like...IC crack, that a fan group had made like...a subbed version, where it was like...stock background image, probably Nerv HQ, and the character face would pop up with the line) but it's pretty much a cut off part of fandom.
04. If you had to choose, would you work for a manga company or an anime company?
Artist or Voice actress, oh my.
05. If you ever had your own manga made into an anime, would you want it to or would you not want it to be made?
As with anything, I'd want to retain creative license to be able to say WTF ARE YOU SLAUGHTERING THE STORY FOR!? FIX IT, YOU LOSER! Or... bounce around excitedly as I see fit. What Sarah said.
