Holy cow

I wanted to say something witty about feminism, and Disney, and Disney princesses, but really, the anti-feminist statement in that are just...mind blowing. I hear the term slutshaming thrown around a lot, but I don't think I have ever seen such a clear example of what exactly it is.

All this make me want to do is my Lottie costume. So I can adjust my giant, sparkling pink tits all the time.

You know, like she does canonly. In the Disney movie. Which is clearly only for innocent children.

Maybe I will get one of these people to faint from the ~scandal~!

Disney is not innocent.

I am not on the Disney hate bandwagon. As you can ask anyone around me for the days or so after I saw the anti-Disney film in Intro to Women's studies. BUT I don't think Disney is innocent either.

Their movies contain:

A girl wearing ONLY a bra for a large amount of time. And all of this time does NOT only include when she had a tail. (Ariel)
A girl as a sex slave. (Jasmin)
A girl pole dancing. (Esmeralda)
The same girl having a WHOLE disturbing as hellmusical number devoted to how she is a slutty seductress. (She is not, imo, even as a kid, it was NOT subtle what Frollo was getting at)
Multiple girl's wearing next to nothing. (Jasmin, Ariel, Kida, Nani, Tink)
Multiple girls wearing literally nothing (Centaurs in Fantasia and mermaids in Peter Pan. Oh, and Mulan's bath scene)
Let's face it, Tink is pretty much a sex pot. The ass shots when she's stuck in the keyhole, and her butt check in the mirror? There's a reason everyone assumed she was based on Marilyn Monroe. And the lovely lady who she WAS based on was obviously a looker who had 'the best legs in Hollywood.'
And uhh...Jessica Rabbit? If she doesn't count as Disney, someone should inform Toon Town in Disneyland, which is all based around Rodge Rabbit.
The above mentioned absolutely NOT subtle tit check of Lottie.
And not to put on the feminist rant hat but of ALL the Disney females ONE has body proportion that are not akin to those of a model. One.

And she's 8.

So sorry, Disney is not exactly innocent little angels about body image. Let's ignore the DISNEY altered version of these images

Don't get me wrong. I don't think one of those things should be taken out of Disney films. I think kids should enjoy them, and as a parent you supplement them with things with better representations, and conversations about what is an isn't ok. And I wouldn't complain at all if Disney started getting better at adding in better body image, relationship models, those sorta things (Which...they are doing. Slowly. But....they could also do a LOT more. But I don't mean to knock what they have done. Tiana is a MUCH better role model then Snow White, and I do recognize that).

But to act like there is NOTHING sexual about Disney princesses is just...gah! Like...their are literally documentaries on this.

Mind blowing.

And, while I'm at Fandom Wank instead of German homework:

A really cool blog about why Fanfiction is good! It's mainly focused on "Offical" Fanfic such as West Side Story (And AU of Romeo and Juliet), retellings of the Jesus story, Wicked, both of the new Version of Alice and Wonderland, etc.

ALSO SARAH: The Star Trek Strange New Worlds anthologies, which are explicitly fanfic contests restricted to amateur authors. I feel that's a relevant one for you too look up.
