I think some people, like myself, just don't like the style of American comics. Very few do I like the art of. I do love me the stories pretty good, but sometime the art turns me off. It really depends, I guess.

That and alkfjasdklaing American comics. It's almost impossible to keep up with some of them. >_>;

Oh yes, of course some people don't like it. Althought I think there tons of diffrent styles out there (kinda like in manga)

But there's a large group of people who are just kissing Japans ass and assume everything out of there is superior. Same people who blind assume every sub is better then a dub.

I'm hoping it'll shake up the american comic book industry into getting their ass in gear before they're buried by manga.

Yeah. Like I said, my biggest beef with American comics is keeping up with them and the million spin-offs and alternate series. It's so hard to keep up with. Especially if the series is older, you know?

Yeah. It's quite annoying. Though I have to agree with that. Subs are better than dubs because they're original; it's how they're meant to be. It's how the characters were made to sound like. That and 99% of dubs are horrible. The only good dubs I've come across are video games. Most of the Megaten games are bearable, if not superiour. Tales of the Abyss was crazy-good dubbing. Even so, I prefer subs simply because that was how it was meant to be. The voices were how they were created to be, to sound. Not chosen by some American company but by the creators of the series.

Hopefully it'll work. And in a good way. Lately, the only good American comics are horror ones, I think. I'm addicted to anything from Slave Labor and damn it. Gaiman's stuff is just awesome. HOWEVER. I am not a fan of Yoshitaka Amano. It's like if Castlevania's artwork was lame. >_>;

Manga-only fans have to realize no, not everything comic-related from Amerikka is crap and not everything from NIPPON is great. There's crap from both sides and awesome stuff from both sides as well.

But the AMERICA FUCK YEAH comic book nerds also need to realize you can't move forward if you're still only (and by "only" I mean "mainly", but you get what I'm saying) marketing towards the same target audience you were in the fifties. I mean, your standard super hero comic is great every once in a while, but issue after issue of the Same Damn Thing with little or no plot ONCE A GAWD DAMN MONTH gets very old, very fast.

But you know what really, reeeeally aggravates me? The "MANGA-STYLED!!!111" comics they're trying to hock off on us. I AM MERRI JEIN I AM SUPER KAWAII!!!!!11 No. No. It's an insult to both the American market AND the Japanese market. I mean, really.

YOU MEAN LIKE THE CIVIL WAR? Because I seriously can't stand that shit. And it keeps popping up in ALL the series. I remember when the Civil War was only supposed to be a summer thing...

I disagree 100% about subs.

No, they were chosen by some acting director who probably never even consulted the orginal creator. "It's the way it's suppose to be." is a joke. NOTHING creative is ever pure, and to think it is a joke. There seems to be some false mentality that the orginal creator is laboring over listening to every voice finding the perfect one. Yeah, maybe someone soemwhere's done that. But ususally not. It's been through so many editors, publisher, people in suits who say "You can't do this, you must do that..." and that's just the original manga.

Plus there's a lot of amazing actors out there in dubs. And I prefer knowing wether my actors are good or bad. There is NO way to tell acting unless you know a languge flently. None. No languge anywhere. Western lanuges we're a bit closer to because they have many of the same tonal qualities we have, but Japanese...hah. All you can tell is wether you like the tone better, and someonecan have the sexiest, most perfectly toned voice and still suck as an actor.

Plus the casting isn't always better. Isabella in Paradise Kiss comes to mind. The English was much better then the Japanese (Tho still not quiet what Isabella should have sounded like at least the English might pass for having been male), Yuki Sohma (gag), any male Ai Orkisawa does...

I love Amano's art piece, I don't know how it's work as sequnetial.

Yeah me and my Hardcore comic book buddy were discussing how maybe this'll wake them up and hopefully start doing things with ENDS. Everything in comics si either a tink little 4 issues serise....or has been going on for years and years. Where's the four book serise? Where's the things you don't need to reread every coming book from 1965 to get?

Plus, who really wants to pay $3.95 or whatever for one 21 page comic? Manga sells because it's cheap, and story oriented.

And, now this is just nit picking, I hatehateHATE it when artists just say LOL SOMEONE ELSE IS DOING THE ART THIS MONTH. What the fucking hell. I get that being a comic artist is a lot more difficult than people think (try making a comic more than fifteen pages in a week, you'll know what I mean EMO EMO EMO), but seriously guys. I read Runaways religiously - I'm not sure why, exactly, but I do, even though I don't talk about it much in my LJ (maybe because nothing much ever happens JESUS I'M GETTING OFF TOPIC AGAIN) - and I usually like the art, but every couple of months this one LOL ANIME artist comes in and I'm like WHAT THE SHIT. I mean, that artist has gotten a lot better, but it's just... Ugh.

I mean, if you can do the "manga style" well, great! I'd love to read it, but don't just buy into a fad because that's what's lolpopular. AND LEARN PROPORTIONS, TOO. RABU RABU, ETC.

Jo Chen is not capable of drawing non-perfect people. I LOVE JO CHEN TO DEATH IN THE FACE WITH ALL CAPS, but it's just a fact that her people are always perfect. :(

And, yes, I agree with you about the man face problem. But I seriously couldn't stand the lolanime "art" when the artist started out (and, admittedly, still don't like it all that much). It was like... go back to DeviantArt. :(

Yeah it's not...I don't mind anime, or hybrid anime, but that was NOT my cup of tea. But I liked it better...tho now the main artist is better. I know not EVERYONE should look perfect, but on the flip side, not everyone is funny lookin...
