1. Favorite childhood book?
The Thief of Always by Clive Barker. OH MAN I LOVED THAT BOOK. It's the only one I've read over, and over, and over again.
It also ended up in the young adult section by the time I stopped going to that library XD
2. What are you reading right now?
Oy.
Uhm.
Under the Dome-Stephen King
Coldheart Canyon- Clive Barker
The Science of Stephen King
Hunt for the Skinwalker
And one about general paranormal things.
And making comic by scott cloud.
3. What books do you have on request at the library?
I have not used the library a lot lately. I should.
4. Bad book habit?
I read a lot, at the same time. I'll sometimes check endings, though I've gotten OUT of that habit.
I don't count reading and using and loving my books as bad habits. That's what they're for.
5. What do you currently have checked out at the library?
Nuthin.
6. Do you have an e-reader?
Not yet. I would like one but they're still more expensive then my care. Maybe when they're like $50
7. Do you prefer to read one book at a time, or several at once?
I'd rather do one at a time, but they come in ebbs and flows.
8. Have your reading habits changed since starting a blog?
Not really. Not at all, that I've noticed. I guess I have sorta expanded how I interact with books, because I can posts about them, rp from them, all of that.
9. Least favorite book you read this year (so far?)
The science of Stephen King. It was just all so obvious and not really related. Or the most obviously related thing (Yes, Dreamcatcher and Tommyknockers are about aliens. No, I did not expect the history of UFOs)
10. Favorite book you’ve read this year?
The Black House. But it is also only January.
But by the end I did really love it. Jack Sawyer+Dark Tower=fuck yeah.
11. How often do you read out of your comfort zone?
Not often. Like unless it's a) highly recommended or b) the ONLY thing to read (Which is why I have, uh...read nicole richie's book) There's so much I wanna read in my comfort zone, maybe when I work through all that....which will probably never happen.
12. What is your reading comfort zone?
Uh. I think what's not my comfort zone. Chick lit, literature, books on Oprah's reading list type things. A lot of Young Adult stuff(But a lot I will read) hard core sci-fi...at some point if my fiction is getting to be science, I just want it to flip over.
13. Can you read on the bus?
No. D: anything that moves I get sick. If I take like 3 motion sickness pills I can on a greyhound type bus, though.
14. Favorite place to read?
Bath. But I'll read everywhere.
15. What is your policy on book lending?
Unless you are someone I am SUPER close to, I don't loan out anything but digest paper backs. And I once heard the advice you should assume any book you loan out will never be seen again, and it's good advice.
16. Do you ever dog-ear books?
Yep. I won't do it if the book is a collector, obviously, but other wise, fair game. I actually don't like books that aren't a little worn out.
17. Do you ever write in the margins of your books?
Yes. Mainly if I know Ju is reading it next, to leave her notes.
18. Not even with text books?
Yep.
19. What is your favorite language to read in?
English is the only language I can enjoy the reading of.
20. What makes you love a book?
The writing style, the characters.Plot, generally, but a well written book can have a not so captivating plot. Or make not so captivating subject matter good, I guess (So Yesterday comes to mind. It's about sneaker marketing. And awesome.)
21. What will inspire you to recommend a book?
How much I enjoyed it, coupled with the interest of the person I'm talking to.
22. Favorite genre?
Urban fantasy. Horror/paranormal.
23. Genre you rarely read (but wish you did?)
Hrm. More non-fiction.
24. Favorite biography?
IDK. I've only read a handful. Probably on writing by Stephen King, but that is probably from lack of others.
25. Have you ever read a self-help book?
...yes.
26. Favorite cookbook?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
27. Most inspirational book you’ve read this year (fiction or non-fiction)?
Uh. Well artistically, Scott McClouds books.
28. Favorite reading snack?
Don't really snack while eating.
29. Name a case in which hype ruined your reading experience.
I tried The Devil Wears Parada.
And wanted to punch babies a chapter in.
30. How often do you agree with critics about a book?
I don't really read them for their opinions, more to hear about books.
31. How do you feel about giving bad/negative reviews?
I'll say my opinion if the subject comes up, or like, here, in my blog. But I don't like...tuck anonymous reviews in the ones on the shelf.
32. If you could read in a foreign language, which language would you choose?
Japanese, probably. It's the only language that has information I want to access and generally can't.
33. Most intimidating book you’ve ever read?
Hmm. Probably Dreamcatcher. My first King books and it looked so long. And then was easy as pie.
I read the Phantom of the Opera in 4th grade. IDFK how.
34. Most intimidating book you’re too nervous to begin?
I have "A Brief History of Time" on the table.
I will do it.
35. Favorite Poet?
...
I don't like poetry. I'm terrible poet's daughter. I want my poems set to music.
36. How many books do you usually have checked out of the library at any given time?
0
37. How often have you returned books to the library unread?
When I went, about half usually did.
38. Favorite fictional character?
Oh fuck.
Sirius Black and Eddie Dean and Roland Deschain and Jake Chambers and Cuthbert Allgood and Beaver and Jack Sawyer and Howl and Sophie and Crowley and Azriphale and Shadow and ikdjg;kjsdgk;dfgsjI'm going to explode if I don't stop. I'm not even touching manga.
39. Favorite fictional villain?
Flagg, clearly. Seishirou, as well.
40. Books I’m most likely to bring on vacation?
Whatever is on hand that I don't mind losing.
41. The longest I’ve gone without reading.
More then I wanna admit.
42. Name a book that you could/would not finish.
I feel there is something obvious I am forgetting.
43. What distracts you easily when you’re reading?
Carrying on conversations.
44. Favorite film adaptation of a novel?
Prisoner of Azkaban. Uhm. The First Neverending Story, while losing a lot, also dealt well with a novelt hat couldn't be made into a movie, I think. Return to Oz is awesomely good at bridging the movie and the books, and combining the essence of 4 books.
45. Most disappointing film adaptation?
Oh man. Howl's moving Castle leaves me in a deep divide, because I love some things about the movie but also a) Sophie is not that weak and insecure and b) the end of the book actually makes some semblance of sense. And c) GIANT BIRD.
But I am also a Stephen King fan. Which is pretty much only rivaled by Clive Barker fans for movie versions that suck.
46. The most money I’ve ever spent in the bookstore at one time?
I don't wanna think about it.
47. How often do you skim a book before reading it?
Not really.
48. What would cause you to stop reading a book half-way through?
If it sucks.
49. Do you like to keep your books organized?
I like to.
I don't.
But I like to.
50. Do you prefer to keep books or give them away once you’ve read them?
I wanna spread the love, but they are also mine.
51. Are there any books you’ve been avoiding?
Yeah, plenty. But like...it's not a requirement to read every book, and I have more then enough I want to read. I can't imagine reading a book you weren't into (Outside of like, class)
52. Name a book that made you angry.
Oh man.
53. A book you didn’t expect to like but did?
Paradise Kiss pissed me off the first time I read through it. I was like WHAT NO HAPPY ENDING.
Now I love the ending.
I read this mermaid romance novel that blew. For a romance novel. And then there was no conclusion to the romance.
Fuck that noise.
54. A book that you expected to like but didn’t?
The science of Stephen King :/
And the end of "A great and Terrible beauty"Like the whole serise. It's ending was so. Ew.
55. Favorite guilt-free, pleasure reading?
Romance novels. Though I have not read one in forever.
