So I have two questions:

Has anyone ever owned a snake, or know of any good resources?

We got Ju a gorgeous cornsnake for her graduation, and the heating pad he came with can't be used on his cage (it's very like "GLASS ONLY!" and the cage is plastic.

Will it be enough for him if I leave it on in shifts? Like....my room is cool, but rarely cold (I lay around in my skivvies all the time), or should we make him a home in the bathroom? Or buck up and get a new heater?

Question b:

I'm suppose to do an art project on food, in pastel. It was suppose to be about of favorite food, but as I HAVE no favorite, that's negotiable. Right now I'm think of doing a super close up on a mouth eating a big sucker, but that seem really uncreative.

It can be ANY take on food, and pretty much any food but like...lima beans. IDK. Gross stuff. Just throw some ideas at me if you have any.

Renee has two cornsnakes, I think. I will pass this on. I am also terrified of snakes, and think less of you for this.

And something with spaghetti, because spaghetti is fucking awesome. Check out foodporndaily.com for ideas.

My next-door neighbor when I was a kid owned hundreds of those things. One night, her dad accidentally left the AC on a little higher than usual and they all died.

I don't know if her batch was just weird or what, but as far as I know, cornsnakes can be pretty delicate. I'd invest in a new heater. Or maybe just a new cage so you can use the heating pad.

D: I think I'll risk the melting plastic till we can get a new cage.

I've never had a snake before but I think you should get a new heater. Changes from hot to cold quite often is not good for humans so I would assume it would be even harder on a cold blooded animal.

Yeah I think I'll just keep the heater on till we can get a new tank/heater

uhh I'm suggesting you get a glass terrarium. They can't hold their own heat in very well at all, so even in just 'cool' tempertures...they need their heat rock.

Pasta \o/ idk it's my favortie

Yeah we'll go look tomorrow and I'll keep him warm tonight.

I have thought about pasta too~

For your question B: Ya know how people get really crazy creative ideas for cake but are still fancy. Just go to DA and search cake. There is some really cool stuff. Plus cake is delicious!

idk about the heater. It's not going to kill the snake to do it off and on, after all, snakes in the wild have to survive nights with no warmth.
I do that with my lizard, he is a native lizard to where I live and I don't leave his heater on constantly cause it's not... natural. Though I make sure my room is warm enough to keep him comfortable. He's very healthy too.
Maybe that helps?

I second the cake idea. xD

I had someone super walk me through all my snake retardedness (We are putting him on top of the cable box!)

That's a really good idea. :D

You know the first thing I thought of when you mentioned pastels was candy. What if you watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for some of the candy shop scenes (those are frickin' beautiful) and steal something, lol. If that doesn't work, cakes (good suggestion by Shea) are easy to find and can be pretty awesome.

I ended up doing someone licking a rainbow lillipop and my teacher was like "Gayness! Excellent!"

I don't know about snakes, but...

If you pick salad, you can use a whole bunch of different pastel-ey colors. (´・ω・)
