Play freebird!

Live from New York:

One new car battery, 98234 times getting lost in DC, and 18 pairs of crab lungs later we are in Queens, all safe and sound and about to light this city up.

And by light this city up I mean wander around Central park and hit up a museum or two. Rock on.

So we once again started over heating before getting out of the state. But we are bamfs at this over heating thing now, and were able to control it pretty well. We stopped just outside Kansas City the first night, and then right before entering Pennsylvania from Ohio (Or West Virginia, you are in in and out of both of them a lot on that route).

We spent a lot of time discussing what fictional man we would marry (I choose Eddie Dean). Indiana was spent mostly without air conditioning. And it stank. An we won fuzzy Captain America dice, officially naming my car Steve (my female car).

The next day we got lost in Pennsylvania. The good kind of lost. We bought Cider off the side of the road, and it was delicious, and that was seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. AND I am super excited, we started talking about how I wanted to use a AU RP that me and variouse people (Ju, Be, Ki, etc) have used as a setting in...something, and we came up with a web-comic idea and I am like...super pumped as it is everything I have ever wanted.

Then we got to Otakon, and since we didn't pre-reg we couldn't really...do anything. So we showed Be Fell's point (The awesome comic store closed D:) and we had our first batch of steamed whole crabs...things were a hell of a lot of work for delicious bits of food.

Then we did the con. It was good, but not great. Saw a lot of awesome cosplay (The Old Spice guy wins), spent time with Pana [livejournal.com profile] pana(?) and Sammy [livejournal.com profile] sammywhatammy I got a bitching cow suit:

...yeah that's pretty much my favorite possession atm.

I got the corset for our steampunk Sailor Moon, and have a card for a wig. And me and Sarah both got potos while...not in costume.

The con was...good but not great. We were in a bad spot traffic wise, and the new rules made our display to crowded. But we learned some stuff and made a nice chunk.

Oh. And our car wasn't starting. So we had them jump it before going to DC. And our hotel was gorgeous, and we had a view of all of DC. They broke in for the news about the debt ceiling, and we kept looking at the capitol on TV...and then our out window. Then TV. Then our window.

And the next day we went to start out car to drive over to the mall to meet with Preston [livejournal.com profile] soratoyuki and...it was dead. So we taxied over, and went to the Washington monument (And didn't realize the white house was RIGHT THERE and all we had to do was turn our freakin' heads) and then went to the National Gallery, where we...loudly and creatively enjoyed the art (But emphasis on the enjoyed. I'm sure some people though we were jackasses, but we were honestly into it. Just not...reverent.) It was a lot of fun. And I got a cool artist entrance sign for my room, and a Andy Warhol quote poster thing for our hallway that says "One is company, two's a crowd, three's a party."

Also, this is why I hate modern art:

And that was only half the room. The Preston took us to an awesome hamburger places, and then he and his (Very sweet) girlfriend Laura dorve us to walmart to get a battery. And this morning the AAA guy put a battery ion for us, and we drove to NY. We got epically lost going both into and out of DC. Which is weird. Truly. Me and sarah, between us rarely get truly "We don't know where the hell we are going." lost. Occasionally "Opps that was the exit, plan B!" lost but like...we had printed directions, the phone out, recalculating every stop...fuck DC. It ruined our record.

And NY is beautiful, and we saw the Statue of Liberty coming in, and we are by this huge, gorgeous old cemetery. Tomorrow is Central Park + Tattoos. And I can't wait to see my family (My niece I guess is asking when "The artist" is coming :3)

It's amazing how many paintings of Jesus, especially the final, say, 36 hours, can be reinterpreted as a party that went terribly wrong. Or right.
