So, as you may have picked up, I've been filling in the gaps in my Naruto reading. And realizing how Large they are. But anyway.

There has been a lot of conversation lately as to Kishimoto pulling shit out of his ass. And now I've read more, I say to those people.

HAVE YOU ACTUALLY READ NARUTO?

Now this was sorta my opinion before with a lot of it, but...Ju this rant is not you safe yet.

The first and biggest. The people going on about how the whole bird in the mouth thing was retcon.

PLZ TO BE REREADING CHAPTER 366.

You know how Itachi pulls Naruto to the side to "Talk" and then suddenly it cuts to Tsunade and Jiraiya, and when it goes back, he walks away? Do you really think he was like "I need to talk *Stands there*....wait never mind."

It wasn't retconning when he went back and showed what Itachi said. He set it all up and intentionally didn't show it (because, uh, it would ruined the next like...50 chapters) and like...GAH. How were people not like...dying to know what was said? I'm really glad I didn't read it before hand cause I woulda been going NUTS. As weird as the bird thing kinda was, it wasn't an "Oh shit I forgot to write this retcon retcon!"

Seriously, do people in this fandom just take things at FACE value and assume if something isn't explicitly said, it's not there? reading between the lines anyone? Subtext? Not just for buttsex!

And really...how did you not know Itachi was....something. Good might not have been the only option but really, how did you read the manga and not figure out there was SOMETHING more going on. That he was not a face value bad guy. Really. Really. The part with the crying? In the rain? Like...what point would that scene had have besides to trigger off "Oh hey there's something more going on" vibes? I mean, even if you assume he wasn't crying, it was so vague and cryptic...did you not stop to wonder WHY he was dropping all these pieces that didn't fit together? I could start to list them but really, just about any scene with Itachi doesn't MESH right with the motives you're given at face value before Madara's revelation.

and note: This isn't really aimed at anyone on my flist. Y'all are smart.

Woah, dude, that's how smart storytelling works. Had I read that chapter I would've been wondering "What did he tell him? what did he say? INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW" and then upon finding out, I would be satisfied. Never would my mind jump to "ZOMGDS RETCON LUL"...besides, I've seldom seen retcons in manga.

PS, they should be reading DC Comics or Marvel--Helloooo retcon-central!

Yeah, retcon are a lot less common I think in manga because it has a consistent author through out, so like...less to get tripped up on.

I have been dying to know what Itachi said to him ever since I read that chapter (when it came out forever ago). I kept hoping every time we flashed back to Naruto and the gang, that Naruto would think back to it, and now that he finally has, oh wow has it added depth. <3

I think people are just looking for things to be nitpicky about. :\ The kind of thing where if everything isn't perfect then nothing is perfect (I see that a lot in some places in this fandom).

Also, do you know WTF line it was that "proves" Uchihacest?

Yes, I do. And that is correct, actually. Madara mentioned Itachi killed his lover, his best friend, and ect. Itachi wouldn't have had to kill his lover if they were not Uchiha. Also, it makes sense. To keep the blood strong. Incest isn't uncommon even now adays. However, this doesn't prove Itachi/Shisui nor Itachi/Sasuke.

There are so many chapters Naruto I haven't read. I stopped right after the TIMESKIPLOL then jumped right to PIRATE SASUKE, then Deidara's death, then Jiraiya's death... I've been reading the recent chapters as they come out because I want to know how the story ends (unless there's going to be ANOTHER ARC), I just don't care enough about what happened in the blanks I've missed to go back and read them. Supposedly it gets better (loltimeskips bother me as plot devices) but... meh.

This is more aimed at people who skip around and then turn around and blame Kishimoto's writing for things THEY skipped over/missed. I'm pretty much like you in that I skip around shit loads to (Which is why i didn't realize this till recently)

I would recommend the Hidan arc thought if you haven't read it.
