So me and my mom were discussing...well first we were discussing musical role made for big people going to not big people (Particularly Ursula in Broadway's Little Mermaid being skinny and rather sucking).

Which got us talking about the whole issue of people acting like any variation of Asian is swappable for any other in movies, and were talking about Rain in Speed Racer.

Mom: Well, they could have gotten some one from Japan....like that pink haired guy.
Me: ...huh?
Mom: Like...the musician you're always showing me...the pink haired guy!
Me: ...*Confused cause I never really talk about J-music, not being into it* Gackt?
Mom: Yeah him!
Me: ....but he doesn't have pink hair.
Mom: Really?
Me: ...mom are you talking about Shuichi?
Mom: Yeah! That sounds more right.

*headdesk*

So apparently my mom thinks they should have cast Shuichi in Speed Racer. IDK how they'd manage that. ~~Thank god XP~~

I think you're right that it's not that she's super horrible or anything, it's just that that's a role you should really be able to sink your teeth into and she...doesn't.
