First Fandom of 2010:
I think Lost counts as "this year" because we finished season 1 in January. I think we may have started it before Christmas, buuut there ya go.
Favorite Main Character of 2010:
Toothless and Hiccup and Rapunzel and Megamind and there are a lot of kids movies in here. Also, the cast of Lost is pretty awesome but I am not picking that apart. And Haven. people. And Jack Sawyer. From the Talisman. I'm not squishing Jack and Sawyer into one.
Favorite Villain of 2010:
Ok maybe a litte. I frigging love Benjamin Linus.
Favorite Het Couple of 2010:
Flynn and Rapunzel. Also Shannon/Sayid and the whole slew I ship from Lost. And Natahan/Audrey/Duke which is sorta het.

That's a REALLY good question. Cause I don't feel like "None" is the correct answer, but IDK what is. I dunno. Anyone knowing someone I forgot that isn't genderbent people? (Because then it would probably be genderbent Smith/Wesson)

Kate/Jack/Sawyer (Since my other OT3 went in het) and...I REALLY feel like I'm missing something here. But I think I mainly just held steady with what I shipped before this year?

I went to the dentist this morning, which is why we are chilling out here...But I have a bunch of appointments to clean up my teeth, and I need my wisdom teeth removed, aaaaand I still randomly have a baby tooth ("Baby tooth" is just a cute phrase) There's an adult tooth under it, but he said at this point, to just not mess with it unless something happens to the baby tooth.

And now a sorta fandom-y rant.

So my friend got in a bit of wank, and it made me start thinking...and it really bugs me fanfic authors can't sell there stuff.

I'm not saying profit from it. WE don't profit from what we do. We make money, but it all goes back into making more art, going to cons, etc. And I think it's sorta BS the authors can't do that too.

Naruto and Supernatural. And a resurgence of Harry Potter here and there.

Hrm. 9 holds a special place in my heart. I love Avatar, but that is so fresh, IDK if it'll last. Half Blood Prince was really good. I feel like I'm forgetting a big one but IDK what.

3. Your favorite book read this year?

Uhm...I'm REALLY digging the Dark Tower. The Graveyard Book was this year, right? I have read so much good lately, but I don't remember what feel in "this year"

4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?

Uhm...Franz Ferdinad: Tonight, The Bravery is moving up my list of favorites, and Lady Gaga (Bad Romance, specifically), All American Rejects song "Gives you hell" was nice for some stress relief.

5. Your favorite TV show of the year?

I think Supernatural can pretty solid take up that spot.

6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?

The only one I consistently watch is <lj comm=roleplaysecrets> but IDK if that's a favorite so much as a "Will I show up! :D" Which is usually no, but that's probably a mixed blessing XD

7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

Uhm. I am feeling like a broken record. Ok, look, does Sarah count as a fandom find, cause just about every new shiny from this year is from her.

8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?

Hrmmmm. I was disappointed 9 didn't become like....anything more then a blip in the road. And Naruto has been....very iffy. Like it could still pull out to quality, buuut there have been a lot of point where I am like "....uhhh...what are you doin, guys?"

Erm. GAH IDK. Why do I always forget everything when filling out memes? Like there have been a ton of little squees here and there, but....maybe the Real Ghostbusters episode of SN? But that feels...ridiculously small to end up listed like this.

Harry Potter and X . Specially X, I have gone a few times to be like "Huh, I wann reread this...so I can remember sall my RAGE at it not being finished. Ok, maybe not."

Uhm,....I wanna rewatch Dark Angel, IDK if that counts. There's some comics I wanna read, and...really IDK.

14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?

Lost \o/ And I'm sure, no matter what I think I expect, something will come out of left field.

But while reading, start requiem for a dream, finish up that page, and open the second page in a new tab/window (So requiem for a dream is still playing, and that minute or so of extra reading has gotten you to some awesomely dramatic part.)

Then turn the sound down on the Disney reused clips, so you're watching those with requiem for a dream as the sound track.

It makes it seem so much more intense and sinister. It's awesome.

Also, like...I don't know animation intimately well, but it seems like repainting some of those scenes would be just as easy as redrawing em. Like...making one bear into another bear, yeah, but Maid Marion into Snow White seems waaaaaay more complicated then it's worth.

Also, the thing about reusing name brand intrigues me a lot. Because what happens when a name brand becomes important to a series (Like say, Oceanica Airlines), and then is like...every where else?

Does that imply that, say, the X-files and that 70's show are the same universe because they both have Morley cigarettes? (No, but the thought really freakin amuses me.)

OK. So. You know the argument that it's ok for yaoi fan girls to like yaoi/slash and not support gay marriage/rights because it's a fictional kink fetish thing?

I realized the reply to that.

How many yaoi fangirls out there ONLY are interested in slash as a fetish? ONLY read explicit sexual thing (Or only read things in a explicitly sexual manner, i.e. they are reading that sweet cuddly fic TO get off)

A kink is ONLY about sex. And I understand having weird kinks (I think a friend once sent me a quote that was something like "How often have you been masturbating and looking at something, only to finish and be horrified by the midget, granny, trans porn on your laptop") A kink is too get off.

So, then, that argument only applies to fangirls who ONLY read slash to get off. Not to squee. Not to explore their writing, or talk about their favorite character, or draw their favorite bottom being cute. You don't draw the shoes being cute, or talk about the deep psychological implications of the diapers childhood. If it's a fetish, or a kink, it becomes and object, not a character with a personality. And if you're thinking in terms of character, with personalities, like...you know people, then you should be making the leap that there are real people in those situations.

I kinda petered out there at the end, but you get the point.

Go through the list and check off the titles you have watched. For our purposes, "watching" a title means that for TV and OVA series, you have to have seen at least one episode. For one-shots, you have to have seen the whole thing. At the end of each genre/category, add up your sub-total. At the very end, add up the sub-totals to come up with your grand total. If your grand total is 80 or over, congratulations -- you are an obsessive anime watcher!

An Editor's Note: not all the titles listed here are great, and some are even steaming piles of crap. Titles on the list are here because they are either 1) genuinely good, 2) insanely popular, 3) good examples of the genre, or 4) just plain notorious. Good anime obsessives should be able to watch series with any of those qualities.

My New years Resolutions are as such:

1) Talk on the phone with people more. I really enjoyed talking to table_chan and iwanttobeasleep, and I need to get more comfortable with it. Also, get my texts working and carry my cell phone. If you wanna be talked to more often/start talking on the phone, drop a note. Just know I'll be super akward at first.

Also, start using people's journal names and not their real names, cause it makes me super happy to see my name linked like that in others journals and I should do the same.

2) Be less insecure. I'm going to stop posting interactive memes so much because it just makes me feel gross when people don't reply, and might stop rping in comms so much. They're silly things to get hung up on, so I'm just going to cut them out. I might still do a meme here and there but a lot less. I don't know what else, but I'm gonna try things.

I have so far failed at being less insecure this year and have in fact been worse then I've been in a shit long time, but...hey, I guess it's a needed resolution.

3) Be more honest. There was this conversation over the break about levels of honesty and it clarified my feelings on the matter. Like...obviously not like honesty as a tool to be mean. Tact will not leave the building. But I noticed how much people unnecessarily hide things that while they might make a rough spot, or an awkward moment, are worth saying.

And now, the new years thing going around. A warning...I have SHIT memory. If something happened at the beginning of the year, I may not remember it was this year so if we like...meet in january, I don't hate you, I probably thought we meet in 07.

Max Carrigan (Across the Universe)- IS MY FAVORITE FOREVER. No, uhm, seriously this is character I bonded with to SCARY levels. Like,I intentionally distance myself for awhile. I believe in reincarnation and think this character triggered something familar in me (Yeah, yuck it up.No, that doesn't mean I'm like...a non-anime otakukin, I don't think I AM Max, I just related to alot in that character I had no basis to relate to.)

How the fuck have I never played him in an rp somewhere...

Madara (Naruto)- Is probably one of my favorite villains ATM. "It was meant to bge a fail safe but it only got as far as the fail!" I mean...how can you not love that.Plus I LOVE duel villains, and manipulative villains, both of which he is. It does make me sad cause I was TTLY on the Tobito band wagon, but...he madeup for it.

Mamoru Chiba (Sailor Moon)- I wanna say was my first cartoon crush but I'd be lying. Still, Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask were my first ~OTP~ and he was my "perfect guy HOMG!" for like...ever. I still adore him, even with his lineancy towards being brainwashed and sorta a douche. Oh well.

Miwako (Paradise Kiss)- I love Miwako cause she's cute. I ADORE Miwako cause she isn't all fluff. She has some deep, serious side, and issues she's deal with, like her and Arashi's love life, and his jealousy. And her"magic medicine." Every character in that manga is so real and full, but she was one of the most pleasant surprises, because it would have been easy to make her a "cute" cliche.

Miguel (Road to El Dorado)- I just rewatched it and fuck yeah I forgot how awesome it was. And how gayawesome Miguel and Tulio were. There's not much to say except he's Juawesome.

Random fact: If me and Ju were a couple in a fandom, our name would be "Tulia"
